Trying To Get Pregnant
Are There Any Foods That Are Recommended To Aid Fertility In Men And Women?
been off the pill for about 8 months with no luck. think it might be a case of trying too hard and getting upset when it doesn’t happen. although i’ve been with my partner nearly 4 years i’m only 22 and don’t want to go for fertility checks just yet as i think they will turn me away being so young.

Yes you are still very young, and it can take up to two years for a normal couple to concieve. It’s early days yet.
I would concentrate on eating natural foods as much as possible; nothing with salt or preservatives or sugar. Eat loads of veggies, especially the dark green ones; cabbage, kale; spinach;broccoli; Eat nuts if you can, they are full of trace elements. Cut down or cut out red meat and dairy foods. Drink water, lots of it. Give up alcohol and smoking.
If you are uptight about it, it may be having an effect on your ability to concieve.
Forget about trying to get pregnant for the next few months,
Concentrate on having fun as a couple. Go on a short holiday if you can. Have a few laughs. It will happen, and you have lots of time.

Firstly cut out alcohol, smoking and recreational drugs. Make sure you get some excersise and enogh sleep. The fact that you are stressing about it is probably not helping either. As for food you need to eat healthily, loads of veg, fibres and vitamins. For him something with zinc, like broccoli is good. Zita West have written a really good book about conception and fertility called ‘Fertility and conception’ which I found really helpful.
Also don’t forget that out of a 100 healthy couples with no problems 97 will conceive in the space of a year. If you still haven’t had any luck after a year you should get both of you checked out. If there is a problem you need to start tackling it now and not when you are older and conception can start getting more difficult.
Good luck!

Basically I am reading that good healthy diet is recommended: food rich in folic acid and iron, like asparagus, all greens, everything is good in moderation, exercises of course … just a normal life cycle.

Studies on the offspring of victims of the Irish famine shows that poor nutrition quality can not only affect children but also grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Male nutrition is important 3 month before conception as sperm takes 3 month to form. (recommended food and tips see below)
Female nutrition is important during the 9 months of pregnancy and during lactation. If you enter “pregnancy” in the search engine of http://www.whfoods.com you get a list of recommended foods for women.
However if she start a healthy lifestyle 3 month before conception along with you then she’s detoxed and you might develop good habits during that year that’ll last.
